Also, the point of departure (from real life) for this scenario is 1850 or later. :)

A POD later than 1850 is highly unlikely. You'd have to have Russia making a bigger (and earlier) push in Central Asia to even reach the Pakistani/Indian coastline.

Also, even a PoD of 1850 or later would give Russia 165 years to try doing this. :)

In addition to this, though, it is worth noting that Iran also borders the Indian Ocean (in addition to bordering the Russian Empire, obviously) :):



You'd have to have Russia making a bigger (and earlier) push in Central Asia to even reach the Pakistani/Indian coastline.
How exactly does one realistically do that, though?

Indeed, would there have been a realistic opportunity for an industrialized, non-Communist Russia to conquer Iran after decolonization would have begun?
