Also are they generally bad people?

It's just the impression I get online. I've never known any nationalists in real life.

Here are the impressions I get:

Their country can never do anything wrong and if anything goes wrong, it is always the foreigners fault or some puppet organization in their country.

All problems in their country are always the foreigners fault or some puppet organization in their country.

They have a positively exaggerated view of their nation and sometimes they are fanatical about it. Sometimes it happens to those who live outside their country and haven't even been there.

They believe that their country can do anything on its own and outside help is bad or makes them into puppets.

They want to implement nationalistic laws that most of the time seems damaging to their country.

They seem to be racist too, foreign people are bad for their country and should be expelled.

They believe that all outside influence is bad and therefore they want to shut it out from their country.

Are they all like this?
All extremists are negatives. Where are extreme left in your monologue?

My country has some really dumb nationalists and if you're wondering, I'm from the Philippines.
It's easy to be selective over which people you choose to focus on when making a point. I'm sure there are many unpleasant and aggressive nationalist types, just like I'm sure there are many civil and intelligent nationalist types. I'm strongly anti-socialist, but that doesn't mean I believe every socialist is evil or crazy; many are genuinely good-hearted and respectable people. An ideology is just that: an idea. Ideas can - and are - interpreted many different ways by many different people. Nationalism can be both a good and noble thing in the right hands, or a terrible and destructive thing in the wrong hands. Always remember that without nationalism, there would be no anti-colonialism, and your country would still be ruled by Spaniards or Americans.

What's it to people here anyway, why do they seem to get offended?
You were the one that made the original post that was nothing short of an angry and one-sided rant against a large and diverse group of people. Do you expect people to not rebut your 'arguments' (if they can even be called that)? Don't make an inflammatory and accusatory post if you don't want people to fire back.

It wasn't a rant.

Those are the things I've noticed and I did say online.

Sure, perhaps, but you haven't really replied to any posts with a discussion of their counter-arguments. You've just defended your initial post by insisting you're not biased and are speaking objective truth. You're not engaging in a discussion about how nationalism can take many different forms depending on who is propagating it. I made a comment where I talked about this and you didn't reply to that, but only to my comment calling you out on being very biased and overly defensive. How about engaging in some proper nuanced discussion before making a final judgement about nationalists? Just pretend - at least for a moment - that you're not 100% right and that other people that disagree with you might have a good point.
