Frank Stenton's Anglo-Saxon England is often mentioned as the best, but the last edition was nearly 50 years ago. Has anyone surpassed it, or is that still the best place to start?
Thanks.

You might want to check out the British History podcast. They do a good job of bringing together a large number of sources and producing a cohesive look at the whole history of the British Isles. They have extensive coverage of the Anglo-Saxon period. In fact, they are just now getting to the end of the Anglo-Saxon period and approaching the Norman conquest.
