Botched invasions

Of hand I can think of the Scottish invasion of England in 1513, in which the Scottish king and most of his commanders were killed. Also Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 and the US invasion of Canada at the same time. Then there is the British invasion of Afghanistan in which pretty much the whole force was wiped out.

Grand Armada? supposedly intended to invade England but was driven off and then blown away in the storm.

Barbarossa of course. (I need not elaborate, I think.)

Mongol Invasion of Japan.
The few mongols that were washed up alive were finished off.
Though it wasn’t really botched ... very unlucky weather wise.

Charles Stuart invasion of England. Got to Derby and arguably could have carried on to London and been crowned king; but instead returned to Scotland and was defeated.
