"Byzantine renaissance" : which reality behind the formula?

Sep 2019
Good evening everyone,

I'm interested in renaissance eras, and more precisely about what some authors called "Byzantine renaissance". I'm very profane about that era and geographic place, and I'm looking for persons who can detail :
- if what we called Byzantine renaissance is linked to the famous expression "It's Byzantium!", implying that we're talking about something grandiose, magnificently refined
- in which field of the life of the empire is observed that revival? Politically, geopolitcally? Socially, economically? Culturally, theologically, philosophically, artistically, scientifically?
- if it is linked, and in what manner, with what historians call Macedonian renaissance in the wide 10th century?

Thank you very much.
