Given, the Elfstedentocht was a nice tradition.
It will come back. When I was young (you know when trains ran on coal) I had never even heard of it and then all of a sudden we had 2 in a row.

Incidentally in the 16th century we had the 12 cities skate in the Holland province, which was similar.
