Chinese astronomy

Here, I will note Chinese developments in astronomy prior to 1600; some notable astronomers, and so on.

By 1381 (if not earlier) it seems the Chinese had astrolabes.

Indeed, I think Marco Polo reported seeing astrolabes at an earlier period.

Medieval China built an astronomical clock (Su Song)

Gou Shoujin- Worked with the Persian astronomer Jamal al-Din. Was later referred to, by the German Jesuit Adam Schall, as "The Tyco Brahe of China"

Was also an enginner and a mathemetician

Shen Kuo- Chinese astronomer and polymath
