I read somewhere that the ice now melts enough so ships can take the fabled Northwest Passage to the Pacific.

supposedly some inland cities are becoming ports and making beaucoup bucks as shipping points, for grain and minerals.

anyone with specific knowledge of?

China is planning to invest in the Arctic region [to open a commercial way to EU], in particular they are thinking to Arkhangelsk in Russia and to a railway through the Siberia. A state company is going to finance these projects.

Northern and Eastern Greenland north of Thule and Angmagssalik is uninhabited since 19th century. But quite modest warming has made the region habitable for Eskimos, repeatedly over four millennia.
