Did the pre-Culloden Scottish Highlanders really use red coats to line their basket-hilts?

Ive heard this several times and asked it on several other forums but have not recieved any answers. Hopefully somebody here knows more on it.

Supposedly the Highlanders cut up lowland Scot/English coats to line the basket hilt on their broadsword but I cant find anything on it so im assuming it might be a myth.

It sounds like the sort of thing they'd do. I don't know if it's a myth or not, but the Highlanders were into that kind of symbolic defiance (for example, the 'King over the water' toast which continued in Highlander regiments for many years following Culloden).
