It seems the story I heard about the above piece (post 360) was actually about the overture to the opera Don Giovanni which Mozart was writing around the same time. According to the Wikipedia the circumstances around the composition of the four movements of Night Music are unknown other than it was written about the same time as the opera.

This is the unfinished version of Mozart's Requiem. It ends abruptly with the crescendo of the Lachrymosa without the Amen. While this might or might not be the very moment of his death, it was likely the last notes he ever wrote. Apparently some later parts of the Mass were already competed by him before his death.
