Has anyone here read Ambedkar's book "Pakistan, or, The Partition of India"?

FWIW, the Muslim percentage in what is now India fell from 12% to 9% as a result of partition. So, about a quarter of India's Muslim population emigrated to Pakistan during this time. So, Yes, most Indian Muslims stayed behind in India.
Only the educated Muslim elites migrated to Pakistan to rule Pakistan, Gujaratis went for doing business, their descendants are called Muhajirs. The poor one were left behind in India, also the Deobandis (Sunni school) were against partition and they too avoid migration, the Barelvis(Sunni school) preferred partition. Muhajirs dominated Pakistan politics in 1950s until the military coup of Ayub Khan brought everything in the hands of Punjabis and Capital was taken to Islamabad near military headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Most Muslims overall indeed did not migrate, for Pakistan was too remote and alien to them (linguistically, ethically, etc), but many of those who strongly supported the demands of the ML, who resided in regions that were to remain in India (like UP and other parts of Northern India), and were not assuaged by the "hostage theory" (i.e. had a considerable fear of Hindu domination) preferred to migrate.
The migrants instigated a new wave of ethnic tensions within Pakistan and Sindhi separatist tendency, since 1950s the Muhajirs in Pakistan were often mocked as "Hindustani bade harami(abuse)"(Indians you are very cunning). No surprise, Karachi today is among the most ethnically volatile cities of the world.

You are correct. The page I looked into did not mention that. But Mallapuram was so constituted by the Communist Chief Minister, EMS Namboodaridd so as to give majority to Muslims - Muslim appeasement.

Why'd Pakistan get such a huge share of the British Indian military?
Punjabis dominated the British Indian army, as British rarely recruited soldiers from Gangetic plain (Purabia people who engineered 1857 rebellion). So, Punjabi Muslim soldiers form bulk of the army.
