That seems pretty fair to me.

Backs up the picture painted in a novel I'm currently reading, the 7th Alatriste book, El Puente de los Asesinos, set in 1620s Venice about a Spanish imperial plot to assassinate the Doge and replace him with a more pro-Spanish, anti-papal rival.

Spies everywhere, strangling in the dungeons, tortures, political mayhem, playing both sides in the east v west scenario, that's the place!!
