Human extinction

'Townsville' is such a wonderful name, a triumph of the human imagination.

Yep, great name. I've been there a couple of times in recent years. Not my favourite town. Well it's a city of about 18500,00 actually.

To be fair, the last time I was there was a week after cyclone Yasi (February 2011)

A few suggestions for fellow humans here:
Prayers can be considered the greatest hubris; it is comforting to have imaginary friends; taking such friends too seriously
is dangerous.
We may be quite powerful; since we are still confined to Planet Earth, we are less powerful than humans in Isaac Asimov's
Galactic Empire series.
The following half century may mean thriving or extinction of humans; tread carefully.

I am always nonplussed by people who don't see mankind as the natural evolutionary element they are. We are as native to the earth as any species, and our evolution is as natural as any other evolution, to see it otherwise is to deny evolution. What differentiates us is our ability to find and utilize resources in ways that other animals up until this point are not capable. To imply some morally reprehensible value to that skill, is akin to saying that a chimpanzee who creates spears to kill other primates is somehow morally reprehensible as well.

That is evolution, that is the nature of all species, the process is creating an environment in which your species succeeds, that is what nature, this planet, this universe are ultimately all about. If you take a moral context to this statement that differentiates your "values" then you are being discordant with reality.

Here is what in the end is of interest though, how many other species on this planet create moral structures? Why are moral structures evolutionary of value?

Life can be described as chemistry manipulating energy to reproduce
we are as smart and as legit as mold , we obey exactly the same basic natural laws

moral structure exist in other species , behavioral restrain work to the benefit of the whole specie even if it seem to be a constraint to individual
monogamy is common among birds , non violence within the group is the rule for rats
any other group is treated as enemy to be chased or killed on sight ( smell actually )

Yeah but the current undefendable argument is that mankind should be defined by some other standard, something above the standard of all other species as if we were some alien presence.

This is a completely hollow intellectual construct

leave people in a safe and comfortable environment to do nothing but think in group ( like university )
and they come up with the most ridiculous concept , untested by reality
