Identifying british medal

I have a few of my grandfathers medals. I identified all but one.. Does anyone know it?
It's a star, and the ribbon is orange,white,gray white,orange..

Assuming the central color was once green the others red, and have faded over 75 years, it may be the Italy Star (1943-45). That seems to be the closest campaign medal.

That makes sense, I know he was in Italy at some point..
Didn't think about the colors fading (it didn't on his other medals) but it really fits..

Maybe it was exposed to ultraviolet light for some length of time (display case near windows?). Can't say, but I think it is the Italy Star.

Beneath a cold sun, a grey sun, a Heretic sun...
It says "The Italy Star" right under the royal cypher. So I second that guess.

Absolutely, it's the Italy Star. The colors are no more the originals, otherwise you would see, from the center, Green, White, Red: the Italian Flag.
