If it wasn't for the Cold War, would India have dismembered Pakistan further sometime before Pakistan got nukes?

If there would have been no Cold War (for instance, as a result of France not falling in 1940) and British India would have still been partitioned at the time of independence, would India have dismembered Pakistan at some point in time (specifically before Pakistan actually got nuclear weapons) in order to eliminate the threat that Pakistan posed to it?

In our TL, India was able to split Pakistan in two in 1971 and create an independent Bangladesh in order to stop the Pakistani genocide there. However, could India have used such an opportunity to go further if there would have been no Cold War and thus no large-scale U.S. support for Pakistan?

Specifically, I am thinking of India completely dismembering Pakistan and creating an independent Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan. All of Kashmir would become Indian while the Pashtun-majority parts of Pakistan could either join Afghanistan or become independent.

Anyway, any thoughts on this?
I wasnt even aware that a genocide happened in Bangladesh. Interesting thread.

A bona fide genocide? The Pakistanis killed a lot of Bengalis to suppress an independence movement IIRC, but surely they didn’t aim to exterminate them.
Pakistan Army of Occupation, occupying the then East Pakistan( Bangladesh since 1971 December war ) was a vile force bent on killing Bangladeshis and raping their women. Devil's incarnate, in short. 9 millions of the East Pakistani men and women fled to India. These refugees stayed, about an year, till the new nation of Bangladesh was born. Let's not think of the Pakistan Army of Occupation as gentle and considerate humans. They were not humans.

I was well aware of what they did but is genocide really an appropriate term here? Was their goal to wipe out the bengalis?

What purpose? What benefit has it brought to Pakistan?
There has been no major war with India, or anyone else, because it means a nuke fight. That's called a deterrent. Had India not gotten nukes too, the whole Kashmir conflict would be settled in Pakistan's favor.

They're expensive, they're dangerous, they're very useful to possess.
