With all its defects and vices, the accomplishments of the Chinese Communist Party are still astonishing.
To say that Mao Zedong was evil without accomplishments might not be historical correct; his destructive formatting might have paved the road for rapid modernization.
It raised literacy rate of China to over 90%, and India has not achieved this YET.
The life expectancy in China is comparable to that of the developed world, and India still faces chronic malnutrition and major epidemics.
The GDP per capital in China was about $300 in the 1980s, and it is above $10000 currently; India has made considerable progress, but the progress is much slower.
China has achieved relative ethnic, class and gender equality (it is far from perfect, but at least foot bindings disappeared under the CCP); India still has the caste system very much in place.
If India has been under something similar to the Chinese Communist Party, what might have happened?
