Caste System: the rigid hindu system of hereditary social distinctions based on castes.

Castes: an endogamous and hereditary social group limited to persons of the same rank, occupation , economic position
-any rigid system of social distinctions.

Social Stratification: the act or the instance of stratifying
- a stratified state or appearance
(sociology) the hierarchical or vertical division of society according to rank, caste or class.

Top of the Caste System:

Brahmin: a person usually from an old, respected family who because of wealth and social position wields considerable social, economical and political power.

Kshatriya: a member of the Hindu royal and warrior class about the vaisyas and below the Brahman.

Vaisyas: skilled farmers and merchants. they often took leadership of council in their local villages.
-member of the Hindu mercantile and professional class above the Shudras

Shudras: a Hindu of the lowest caste , that of the workers.
-often worked on the farms of those higher in the caste.
(poor, very little in weight in society)
