Pierre Nora, a French Historian of the New History School (for reference: Nouvelle histoire - Wikipedia) said in an interview to the “Magazine Littéraire”, around 1977, the following:...not really history in the making I think!
“Today, the smallest event is lived as already being historical, memorable, written already in the History, when we even don’t know even if it will have some importance. How many times we can hear about an “historical meeting” between two relevant characters, when it didn’t had place yet, and maybe could even be postponed.[…] In some years, all will have felt and a considerable filtration will be made, separating what changed the course of the events from what didn’t change it."
