How Saudi Arabia Is Addressing Jamal Khashoggi’s Disappearance - The Atlantic

Prominent regime critic enters Saudi consulate in Istambul with his fiancee waiting outside,... he never comes out...

Unusually regarding saudi, there is strong criticism in the US (and the UK, France for now is silent) over this. And in Turkey as well.... There is muted talk of sanctions....

Could this be the straw that will break the camel's back ?

i would be surprised if it had long term consequences. Sure it is embarrassing for the KSA, but it gets away with more serious stuff, and in worst case (if it is proven that the man is dead, and he was killed in the embassy) the Saudis will find some scapegoat to take the blame away from the state.

So an extremely biased journalist who is No. 1 Saudi advocate of the Muslim Brotherhood gets killed by new Saudi "ruler" trying to crush Wahhabism/Islamism in his country to modernize and liberalize it after decades of KSA being premier global supporter of Islamic violence, and the world is supposed to get angry at this?

Cannot win with some people.
