Mongol Invasion to Java

I was wondering how can The Great Mongol empire defeated by newborn kingdom (Majapahit). What happened to them?

Cause it wasn't the full power of the Mongol empire that was thrown in the fray here, there was no need to so either. The assault on Java was an expedition, not an invasion. They were tricked and routed by a supposed ally btw (Majapahit). The mongols couldn't stay there as well cause they needed to get home with the monsoon. End of story.

The invasion of Vietnam went equally bad.

And the Mongols didn't follow up the expedition with an invasion due to Kublai Khan's death.

There'd been plenty of cases where supposed superpowers gets defeated by a supposedly inferior nation.

And there are always recurrent factors to, like the simple fact that certain tasks wouldn't be worth the price. In the end the majority of the rulers in SE Asia accepted Mongol supremacy even if it was just in name.
