What is the most Epic Air Battle in History rated on Scale, Intelligence of commanders, Odds, Kill-casualty rate and Importance in History?

I voted for the strategic bombing of Europe. How can you beat hundreds of heavy bombers flying in formation day and night?

It depends how you define ''epic''? To most intelligent Brits and the Empire nations plus the Poles Czechs American volunteers etc who also played their part in the Battle of Britain in 1940 between June-October 1940 was without question the most epic air battle in history because by winning it Britain & her allies who took part guaranteed that Hitler could not realistically proceed with any invasion of southern England.
On the other hand do you mean epic by the losses involved by the respective combatants?
A-March 30 1944 British and Empire Bomber Comand suffered record losses of 96 bombers attacking Nuremburg Germany in one single raid with the German night fighters having a beanfeast due to the brilliant moonlight over the target.
B-In 1943 the US 8TH AIR FORCE suffered horrendous losses in two epic battles with the Luftwaffe while attacking Schweinfurt ball bearing plants- 60 USAAF bombers shot down on one of these raids with many others returning badly shot up to England.
This after epic batTles between German fighters and B-17 GUNNERS.
C-Then on August 1st 1943 American B-24's attacking Ploesti oil fields suufered huge osses to flak and fighters over Rumania in another epic confrontation
D-1000, RAF bombers attacked and bombed Cologne, Germany on the night of May 30 1942 -that was pretty epic.
E-THE torpedo bomber crews of Torpedo squadron 8 -save one crew man -George Gay -were totally wiped out on June 6 1942 at Midway in the Pacific attacking Japanese carriers whose fighters shot them all down but elsewhere that same day,USN Douglas SBD -111 Dauntless dive bombers totally destroyed four Japanese aircraft carriers on that same day in June 1942 forcing the IJN and the Japanese High Command to abandon the mooted conquest of Midway island in the Pacific -that too was a pretty epic use of airpower in aerial battle.
So you pays your money and takes your choice.

I voted for Operation Focus: the Israeli military operation was so well planned that it shouldn't even be classified as an air battle (as most of the Arab planes were destroyed on the ground).
