Were people in olden times as obsessed with oversized phallus as people in modern times are? Was micropenis shaming as bad as it is now?
If equally well-endowed when erect, who would be considered more ideal back then: the shower or the grower?

The ancient Greeks thought a large penis was gauche and barbaric, as can be seen in their statues.
Yes, one only need to look at the surviving art work to verify. That also goes for the Romans. Small male genitalia were considered a sign of self control. Anciently this was one of the reasons for the disgust of Germans. Apparently, they had large genitalia and were believed to be... well, barbarians.

The phalli of Classical sculptures were often tampered with; I suspect the originals were big.
The most impressive one is the footlong of Priapus, god of fertility and masculinity.

The Romans also worshiped Priapus, often represented with a huge Phallus ,or alluded to by lucky charms consisting of a large phallus. There is a statue of Priapus in one of the villas in Pompeii. It is a smallish statue, as one would expect of a household god. He features a proportionate size erect penis, which hast to be constantly replaced. Tourists keep stealing it.

Pre Columbian America a produced a large amount of pottery featuring a large phallus, with owner engaged in various sexual practices.

Indian religion has long featured the worship of lingham (phallus) as part of the worship of Shiva. Sizes vary from modest to enormous. The objects are often so refined that a non believer would have difficulty recognising it.

Japanese art during the Shogunate onwards often features humorous drawings or paintings featuring gigantic phalli. Eg man carrying his penis before him in a wheelbarrow.Too funny to be called pornographic.

An aside: there is a rumour that there is a largish chest full of marble penises in the Vatican. Seems a certain pope took umbrage at the penises on male statues around the Vatican. So he had them all chiseled off. Some version of the rumour is that the pope did the chiseling himself. Why? Repressed gay or just a philistine arsehole?

Forgive me, but the Incas were more warlike because they were sexually repressed? While we are at it, the metric for sexual repression is whether or not a civilization produces pottery featuring large phalli with owners engaged in various sexual practices or similar? Who knew?

it's a well worn trope to consider sexual repression and very bad food as promoting excellence in the warriors spirit
