The roots of the problem date back to the 7th century.

By the by, it's Arab spring. Arabic is language.

The place has never been the same since Alexander passed through.

More seriously - one of the main problems is the western obsession with removing stable but fairly unpleasant dictatorships and trying to impose nice, cosy, western-style democracies in places that will never be suitable for it in a million years.

You can attribute all the lost lives and suffering to that.

What is more important for the current problems: the fall of Saddam or the Arabic spring?
None.

The two most important reasons for current problem are:
1.) Muslim World vs Israel
2.) Israel-Iran Cold War (Israel is using its proxy USA; USA is using its proxy Saudi Arabia and Turkey; so, many also call it Saudi-Iran Cold War)

Also, (2.) is just a subsequence of (1.)

There is not really such thing called the " Arab spring ". What has been going on in the Middle East, which started with Tunisia in 2010 is the implementation of the " Greater Middle East Project " of America and Israel, aka the globalist agenda to redraw the map of the region.

* The term " New Middle East " was introduced to the world in June 2006 in Tel Aviv by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
* Israeli Prime Minister Olmert and Secretary Rice had informed the international media that a project for a " New Middle East " was launched with the American-sponsored siege of Lebanon by Israel in 2006.
* This plan, which consists creating instability, chaos and violence from Lebanon, Palestine and Syria to Iraq, the Persian Gulf, Iran, and the borders of NATO-garrisoned Afghanistan, was also the confirmation of a U.S. & Israeli " military roadmap " in the Middle East.

Right, as I tried to tell my fellow Americans back in 2002-3, democracy isn't suitable for Iraq, which needed authoritarian government to stay united and relatively stable.

You can attribute all the lost lives and suffering to that.

Agreed. If only the US hadn't been under the influence of neocon screwballs in 2002-3, much of the subsequent mess wouldn't have happened.

Well, while I do believe the arab/muslim conflict with Israel is ultimately of greatest importance, it has lately been sidelined by inter arab fighting. I suspect the fall of Saddam is the root of all recent trouble. Naturally the arab masses, like the average American, find the idea of democracy appealing, regardless of whether it's really workable. The elimination of Saddam and establishment of Iraqi democracy, grotesque as its consequences have been, probably encouraged Tunisian, Egyptian, Syrian and Libyan malcontents, who erupted in 2011. They thought they now had a chance to impose their own visions, however screwy, at the expense of existing regimes.

Yes, the cleansing of Saddam and Gaddafi were the triggers.

The root cause is why they wanted to cleanse Middle East of Saddam or Gaddafi and now Assad ?? For the safety of Middle East...

For whom they want to make Middle East safer ?? all the roads lead to Israel !
