Would I be right to say, that he contributed much and was pivotal figure in independence of Mongolia and yet was unfairly forgotten?

he had been working on independence of Buryat. and then soviet union sent him to assist red army to expel the white army.

in the end, we see a dependent Buryat republic inside russia, and another mongolia republic.

how is that a pivotal figure?

He was working on independence of Mongolia. Mongolia became independent through USSR. The one who made Soviet goverment interested in this was him. Latter on he was suggesting to create a bigger Mongol state, including Tuva, Buryat ASSR, which was a lot bigger then modern Republic of Buryatia. For which he was shot for panmongolism and was later on rehabilitated.

Mongolian revolutionists had Soviet support because of Rinchingiin Elbegdorj. How far would go Mongolia without any help from Soviet Union?
