The Assyrian Armies created siege warfare even before the Greeks and Romans and used them effectively.

The Assyrian Armies were a mixture of heavy infantry which were in phalanx formation and had slingers, archers, cavalry, and chariots as support. And unlike the Persians, their relied on heavy infantry.

The Assyrian Armies defeated the same nomadic horse archers whom the Romans lost to several times during several engagements (Roman-Parthian wars) and added them to their armies.

Even by modern standards, the Assyrian Empire and its armies were impressive and are appreciated in Military History.

The Romans relied heavily on their Legions and their cavalry was decent at best, but the Assyrian chariots were FAR heavier than any other chariots and they were specifically used to break enemy formations. The shock of the chariots will cause the Romans to panic. The Assyrians used any and every tactic to win and warred throught their empire's history, and perfected their military and strategies to full efficiency to the point where they became the dominant power in the Near East. They would use their nomadic horse archers to weaken the Roman cavalry and then surround the Roman center with their Heavy chariots or Cavalry. If that tactic doesn't work, then they will simply use their slingers and archers to weaken the Roman infantry until the legions become too weak to even attack, which will cause a decline in their morale, and the Assyrian victory will be complete. The same thing happened to the Romans when the Parthians and the Sasanids used their light horse archers and cavalry to weaken the Roman army whenever they tried to invade the Middle East, which, for the most part, ended in their loss.

PS: Many individuals who take only Western history and do not even read about Eastern history tend to become ignorant, a reason why in many Western countries there is so much hatred for the East. Spread knowledge, not hatred or opinions which tend to become generalizations.
