spread of world religions related to Proselytism?

If one considers modern religions such as mormonism that emphasize proselytism... vs judaism.... has there ever been a study looking at growth patterns of believers?

If one considers judaism which refrains from proselytism, and whose numbers grow by reproduction and possibly some conversion via intermarriage.... i wonder how many followers they would have today given the ancient history of the israelite religion.

If you consider 'religion' a virus of the mind ( or a collection of memes).. one would think that they would self-select for proselytism/ forced conversion/ ease of conversion by marriage..... and (in modern times) commandments against birth control... and for large family size.

Wondering if there has been a sociological study looking into these aspects of organised religion.
