Thank you very much.But the difference is that the russians dispose of an enormous strategic depth.It significates that even with a first big defeat,they have the possibility to counter attack like Koutouzov in 1812, who tried to destroy the french army with the troops of the north,of the south and of the center in La Berezina.

actually , the commissary section of the army pointed out that past Smolensk a pause would be needed ,
to let the supplies catch up with the advance
this was duly noted ,
A technicality..... This is not "being against Barbarossa" , it is just pointing out a technical problem (supply) and proposing ways to solve it

Not if their army is destroyed west of the Dniepr as the germans intended (hoped)... then they have nothing to counter attack with (or whatever is left is too demoralized to counter attack)....
