the Wollemi pine , a living fossil
one grove of a copiced unique individual is the last survivor of a 200 million year specie thought to be extinct for 50 million years
the stand roots are thought to be one thousand year old ,
Found in a national park close to Sydney it was called the botanical find of the century and likened to finding the Coelacanth
at first the Botanist of Sydney Royal botanical gardens were frightfully concerned they might accidentally kill the tree
it turned out to be as easy to grow as cabbage and is now sold in suburbia nursery
