In each French garrison , in the armory stock , there is a lot designated "flash" to be issued to troops on order of the local prefect to the regiment colonel
it include , pistol bullets , an rifle ammunition .
the French Army is mandated to maintain order under the civil authority direction ,

Anyone who has been around Paris some years ago would have seen Army patrolling outside rail station and such

"Gilets jaunes", obviously.

They were some gilets jaunes out in the streets today, army didn't shot them.
Oh was that in the link?
Sending in the army is not the same as shooting at people.
Maybe because they didn't attacked with Molotov cocktails, maybe because they didn't put shops on fire.
Maybe because the army is trained in restrainment in urban areas.

The cynic in me thinks Macron send in the army, because he cant pay the overtime anymore.

The realistic in You should tell You that the red line was crossed since long.

There wasn't any more about protests. The movement was token over by hooligans, just looking for confrontation with police, just looking for destruction.

That is probably the feeling of the Gilets as well...

How could you tell? The only news that seems to leak out of France is from social media.

" The cynic in me thinks Macron send in the army, because he cant pay the overtime anymore. "

that's one of the main reason ,
the police is exhausted ,
between various terrorist events , immigrant riots , international meeting and now the "gilet Jaunes"
the policemen have complained that they are on duty for very large shift , their rest days have been cancelled , their Holidays refused
and that instead of being fully paid overtimes they are given extra days off , which they are not allowed to take

Gone are the days of Louis de Funes.
