In the bible in revelation 17 the whore of babylon is identified as a city "clothed in scarlet and purple" if the whore of babylon is ancient rome the color scarlet must have some sort of special significance

Because everything in the Bible has to be taken seriously?

"The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls."

What are the importance of gold, precious stones, and pearls to ancient Rome?

They symbolize the wealth of the city
Scarlet is not a color associated with expensive dyes unless a yellowing agent is added. Tyrian purple is the dye that alone produces colors that range from purple to crimson. It was HUGELY expensive and many ancient cultures even went so far as to have laws that only allowed certain classes to wear it (or else it would be presumptuous). Besides that, gold, precious stones, and pearls are all symbols of extreme wealth.

Does that answer your question? Or do you have another rude comment to make?

So you're saying scarlet and purple were both made from this dye
