The Myth of Blackbeard's Body

So, many people say that after Blackbeard was beheaded, he swam laps around the ship before sinking. Could this be possible? It may just be currents carrying the body.

16 pistol balls and 5 lances to kill him is what I recall. Which is perfectly possible given the inefficient pistols of the time and the alleged 'toughness' of the man.

Isn't it actually in navy archives? Seeing as his demise came at the hands of a navy warship.

Uh, no. That's just pure myth to embellish the man. He may have been a tough cookie, but not even he could do this once his head was severed.

Having mapped it, I would say the current in that location would make it impossible.
