I can remember putting on here the fact that North Korea had NEVER kept an agreement, so it is strange that President Trump has called off negotiations due to take place in Singapore on 12 June. What is going down?

Its just hardball negotiation.

Kim Jung Un reached out with peace feelers a few months back but then went back to aggressive speech as soon as he had Trump on the line for a peace summit. I guess the Kim regime thought that they had a negotiating advantage that they could start playing a dominant role because they believed the US would cave just to get the summit going for the political capital. Most of their other saber rattling techniques would work masterfully on any other administration, and something like this also works wonders.

Look at how all of Historum is freaking out, and its everywhere. That's angst leads to political pressure. The Kim regime knows this, they believed they could play hardball themselves because they figured Trump wouldn't pull out of the summit because of fear of the political fallout of doing so. Unfortunately, world leaders are too caught up with approval ratings and polling by people who have no idea what is happening instead of doing the right thing. But Trump doesn't act like typical career politicians only looking for approval ratings and to appease the media. And realistically, Trump has the advantage. He's showing that he controls the situation.

Its not like a summit can't happen in future. The reality is the Kim regime is only reaching out because of the situation they find themselves, sanctions and embargoes are destroying their country and the only way to stop them is diplomacy. Either that or go to war, one they can hurt others but one that will utterly destroy them and result in the deaths of basically everyone with power. They can treat, or they can do delaying tactics to prevent further escalation and to try to outlast the Trump administration until a wimpier administration takes the White House, at which point they'll cave to the North Koreans nearly instantly, as most of them intended already.

The President is not a serious person. The way this happened is not surprising.
His opposition's policy was to fully accept North Korea as a nuclear power, and you call the one president in decades who is actually doing something to stop that, doing what needs to be done, as not a serious person?

Not serious would spending eight years in office while North Korea tests nukes and lobs missiles over Japan and doing nothing at all about it because its easier to ignore it than get involved. Because getting involved means the possibility of military action, abhorrent for their political base, unless its using drones to kill people inside sovereign nations.
