Was there a relationship between the Quebec Act of 1774 and the American Revolution of 1775?

Almost all of what became the northwest territory as well as Vermont and part of Maine was given to Quebec. Washington, his relatives, other Virginia planters, Franklin, and others had investments in land that was given to Quebec. There was also fears in New England and elsewhere about the French language and Catholic religion being established in areas to their west which people may have expected their children to settle.
