What if France had accepted Churchill's offer of a Franco-British Union

Lets assume France accepted Churchill's Offer of a Franco-British Union and so did all the various governments and courts of both countries. How would it change the war? What would happen following the war? Would Britain get involved in Vietnam? Would this powerhouse country lose India and Superpower Status? Where would it stand today? What would life be like?

Just to make this a little more interesting and not "The French would leave" or "The Brits would leave" lets assume there is popular support and this lasts the first couple decades of it's existence. Just to make this clear this is a country like the UK not like the EU

I promise you, it wouldn't last. They would jointly be embroiled in one colonial war after another. The Brits fighting in Algeria or the French fighting Kenya?
Separately they could not hang on to their empires but together they would have shed more blood.

Well maybe they could've. What would happen following the losses anyway?

This would never really happen anyway so lets ignore the huge problems that would stop it within the first week

After the war, assuming victory then France would separate. Lose and we all are part of the Reich anyway.

The idea of Union came from Guy Mollet.

He tried again in 1950 when France was under a lot of pressure and Communists had achieved over 30% of the popular vote.

Again in 1956, he proposed a Union of the two but was turned down by Eden. Then of course he turned to Germany and the Common Market was born.

Churchill himself proposed a union of UK and France in 1939

This was also not a union like the EU I believe

More like the UK
