What is "pan-africanizm" ?

Can you explain it with a light english ?

And how is this posssible ? African nations have different cultures and histories. They aren't same races (I'm I right ? ) so why some people wants to pan-african state ?

Single-state pan-Africanism is rare. Its main emphasis is on solidarity, cohesion, and co-operation between Africans and African-descended people worldwide, believing they should have a common cause and should work towards it.

It's largely artificial as far as the national identity part of that goes, because, as you say, Africa contains thousands of competing and distinct nations. But then so's the EU, and identities can be moulded over time.
