Out of these Mesopotamian civilisations do you find most interesting. I know that the Seleucid Empire was Greek and the Sassanid empire was Persian but the heartland of each of these empires was the land in between Rivers

I judge civilizations by the ruins they leave. In my ignorance I only know The Taq-i Kisra from the Sassanid Empire, which is a impressive building, so they get my vote.

I'm going for Assyria, simply because it seems to receive an unfairly disproportionate amount of attention compared to its contemporary significance and dominance.

Assyria definitely. I only have a book by H Saggs called the Might of Assyria. A lot of other books Assyria flits in and out. Would like a up to date book on their political and military history. Fascinating culture, and least not forget at their height in the neo-Assyrian stage they had a massive empire.

Assyria.

Although I consider Sassanian Persia Persian, not Mesopotamia. Even if they did take over the area and put their capital there.
