The Turks fought against all those they perceived as occupiers. The British, the French, the Greeks, the Armenians etc. But it is indisputable that Turkey cleansed what remained of its Greek and Armenian populations. Some of Ataturk's speeches certainly contributed to this.

Sri Lanka scrapped the citizenship of Indian Tamils just after independence, they were brought by British to work on tea industry in central Sri Lanka.

Minorities Hindus and Sikhs were almost expelled from West Pakistan after partition similarly millions of Hindus were expelled from East Pakistan into India during Pakistan civil war of 1971.

What was the motivation for this expulsion and did Tanganyika itself see a similar expulsion after independence?
Zanzibar had an Arab monarchy and government controlling a Black-majority population. Indians in Zanzibar were a classic middleman minority.

.....worked wonders for Vodka sales :)
And to the great detriment of the Russian people considering that the alcoholization of Russia in the 20th century might have very well made Russians significantly more violent and also made Russians (especially Russian men) live less than they otherwise would have. Russian male life expectancy was actually below 60 years in the early 21st century before significantly increasing. It's now around 67 or 68 years, I believe.

So, native Tamils were welcome in Sri Lanka but not Indian Tamils?

Yes, I actually mentioned British India in my OP here. Also, it's worth noting that even in 1971, the ethnic cleansing of Hindus in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was nowhere near completely thorough. Bangladesh still had a double-digit Hindu percentage even after its acquired independence, I believe.

So, a situation comparable to that of the pieds-noirs in Algeria before 1962 (except with the pieds-noirs taking the role of the Arabs and Indians and the Arabs and Berbers taking the role of the blacks)?

Not completely - the Arabs and Indians in Zanzibar predated the British, while the pied-noirs were part of the French colonization - but there are definite similarities.

The Algerian Jews--counted as part of the pied-noir population--preceded the French.
