We can't know

Who knows what geniuses were killed by Hitler's SS (or never born because their parents / potential grand parents) were killed ?

In terms of legacy, Napoleon left a lot behind

Hitler left behind gangs of skin heads with tattoos and little more

Whilst Napoleon did indeed do some good surely Hitler left as big a footprint. Shaping History means for good or bad and in Hitler's case it was almost all bad. But his vile perverse legacy goes so much further than gangs of skinheads.

Agreed. Napoleon's wars only really affected Europe, Hitler's WW2 spread across the globe and had more far-reaching world effects.

What did Hitler contribute to history other than a lot of innocent corpses:evil:

But there were a lot of corpses, some estimates go over 60,000,000
He also responsible for the redrawing of the map of Europe, the spread of communism, the emergence of the Soviet union as a world power as well as the Autobahn and advanced rocketry.

What did Hitler contribute to history other than a lot of innocent corpses:evil:
Nazi racial theory has found, to this day, a lot of fertile ground among the European working classes. Just without the quackery of all its supposed scientific basis. Even here in England, I can't begin to tell you how many people I've met who claim that Hitler 'just wanted to keep his country pure'.

He also helped popularise the theory that Jewish cabals secretly control world finances, start wars and so on. Not that he invented the idea, just as he didn't with eugenics, but he applied and promoted it on a very public scale.

In our lifetime, another effect of Nazism will prevail. Namely that the practice of Norse paganism will often be automatically be associated with Hitler and his goons. He himself was more of a deist than a pagan, but his usage of Norse paganism to legitimize his racial science will tarnish the religion for a long time.

I also believe that Hitler's manifesto has been a vital tool for many rightist parties. Who are not necessarily even racist. Namely that Hitler mingled conservative tradition with an image of himself as an anti-establishment maverick. Promoting right wing values that the workers adhered to, whilst simultaneously adopting Communistic rhetoric against decadent plutocrats and bankers was a masterstroke of political thought - no matter what I may think of the man on a personal basis.

The title says influenced, not contributed.

Hitler influenced global history in the way that his enemies responded to his policies.
The Soviet Union made fascism an excuse to occupy eastern Europe.
Britain lost the last vestiges of control over the empire.
USA became a major influence in Japan and SE Asia.

Space Shark said it all, Napoleon affected Europe but Hitler affected the entire world.

The map of Europe is always being re-drawn...no border changes, that Hitler was responsible for, remain

Communism was already spreading in Hitler's day, if anything Hitler stemmed its growth

The USSR was growing into Superpower state anyway

Not sure I would credit Hitler with the Autobahn - though the advance of rockets came from WWII that he started

Britain was going to lose her empire regardless of what Germany did - WWII was inevitable and merely sped up Britain's retreat from empire

The USA's power (like that of the USSR) was growing without any stimulation from Hitler

The only influences Hitler has on world history are the deaths of millions of people and technologies that arose from the conflict he started when he ordered the invasion of Poland
