Both these nations suppressed people of their faith within their own lands unlike US or the UK. Why is it that the International Islamic groups (ISIS, Qaeda) never tried attacks against these nations despite these events?

They do.

By far the biggest Islamist (or at least mujahideen) movement to date has been against the Soviets in Afghanistan; the second might well be the one against Russians in Chechnya and Dagestan. China has fought numerous separatist revolts by Uighur Muslims and still suffers a mass-casualty terrorist attack every couple of years.

Overall, the main enemy in Sunni jihadi theology is 'the near enemy' - secular strongmen, 'occupying' states, and the Shia. The 'far enemy' - the west - is either a sideshow, a puppet-master, an ultimate goal, or a distraction, depending on who you ask. The west is hardly ever hit, compared to the supporters of people like Assad or al-Sistani.

I mean international Islamists like Qaeda, ISIS etc. They are not doing anything to Russia and China why?
Then what will they archive by sending terrorist to those places? It's not like they can gain a foothold or expand their range of activities in those places. Not to mention, Russia and China are two of the only few countries in the world to oppose America and Europe in almost everything and have never showed any sight of interested in the Arab world for at least a decade. There's no need for Russia to find a reason to start acting serious about the ISIS fiasco, no? What is the last you see a Russian or a Chinese got behead by the terrorists?

And I may be wrong but the current dispute in China is about lands and human rights, not religion. The Muslims in China are rarely victim of religion suppression. But I may wrong so can someone who know about this more than me confirm this?

And it's not like ISIS and Al Qaeda's goals were to protect the Muslim. Why should they care about the Muslim living in other countries, honestly? Did it look like the Muslims in Canada and France were oppressed to you? No. They dont target a country because of that. Unless Russia started printing comic book about Muhammad having sex with Jesus, there's no reason for ISIS to target Russia.

After Shia countries, Russia is still the biggest enemy of Sunni Islamists, it's been since the 70s and will be.

In regard to direct attacks to these countries, remember the terrible actions in the Caucasus and Moscow over these years.

Chechnia's goal and ISIS's goal are different. While Russia may be (just may be) the biggest enemy of Sunni, protecting Sunni in general had never been a priority to ISIS or Al Qaeda. Sunny or Shia, they dont care. It's wrong to think that every Islamic terrorist groups have the same interest. Now, have you heard about any terrorist attack in America done by the Chechnia? Unless Russia or China started doing something that make them the direct enemies of ISIS, there's no need for ISIS to expand their activities to Russia and China.

The Soviet Union was targeted by Islamists. It was called the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, not that people who are too ignorant of geography or history to the point of asking a question like this would understand the difference. The Russian Federation has been perpetuating the old Caucasian War as well. China has been targeted by Islamists since the 1870s, the difference is that Russia and China have never been more than partially democratic at best and retaliate where insurrections are concerned with the iron fist.

I am very well aware of these so please be civil. Point is no 9/11 type attack on these nations despite their excesses being way more than the mainstream western world.
