People forget about Ancient Rus while estimating numbers. Obviously, it was a shield which saved Europe from barbarians. And a fluke, of course. :)

Why were the Mongol invasions of Europe(and also Eastern Mediterean) not in large scale? When they invaded Persia numbers could go up to the hundreds of thousands and in Vietnam and Japan as well. But Subtai's invasion was only 30,000. Even the force at Ain Jalut was quite small. Why? Logistics? Couldn't they provide a massive supply base in Mespotamia?
Isn't it obvious? The Mongol Empire was overly extended and huge compare to
the population of the Mongol people at that time, even with their levied troops and allies from conquered and submitted nations that made up their western troops.........Their was only so many troops they could pull away from there recently acquired lands without leaving them vulnerable to rebellion and uprisings from the settled populations. And if you do a quick google, the invasion by Sabutei and such wasnt even a invasion but a heavly scouting party to gain intel on the far off Europeans in preparation far a far more massive invasion, that never came for many reason including the ones mentioned before me.........

Isn't it obvious. Russians defeated Mongols and saved all of Europe from Asian monkeys. Bow to your Russian overlords. Mongols were too scared to face the Russian bears.

Despite being a poor nationalist , narrow-minded , backwarded and maximum 10 years old brained douchebag , no , Russia did not save Mongols from Europe. In fact Russia fell to Mongol , mm , in a couple of months ?

Sometimes you need to throw stereotypes aside.

The Mongol army with all its units was 1.5 million troops strong. There were more foreigners than Mongols themselves by far. However, the Mongol army in Europe was not so big because the Mongols needed to garrison their far-flung territories. There were also Mongol campaigns going on across Eurasia at the time of the European invasions.

Mongol Army 1.5 million strong? I doubt it....their total invasion of China and Persia was about 100,000. Genghis' Jin Campaign was about their total force. The Yuan dynasty maybye 500,000 total but probally mostly infantry.

Simple! The Mongols overexerted their power! After expanding to a certain point, their numbers were too thin for them to be able to conquer Western Europe.
