Yes. It just happens that I am sorting out papers and I have a copy of an agreement between a brother and sister which divides their father's lands. Sometimes the land goes to a daughter and, in that case, her husband assumes her "land name".
Sorry I missed this earlier. If you remember the paper you mentioned, can you tell me what time period and country/culture/civilization that was from?

I remember the paper very well--but not where I put it :(. However, the man whose properties were being divided died circa 1546 in Norway and the agreement would have been shortly after.
