'We need a futile gesture at this stage, to raise the whole tone of the war':

'Goodbye Sir, or is it au revoir?' 'No, Perkins.'

That exchange between Cook and Miller is probably the highlight of the Aftermyth of War sketch - that and 'a nice cup of boiling hot water'.
