Good video , the only thing I would change is call Byzantines as Romans , as this is what they were .

Simple summary and useful for kids. Not sure about the 'Visigothic king coming to their rescue' (he was in the middle of it). I might rephrase that. We aren't sure entirely how they beat the Visigothic army but they did. That much can't be denied by mainstream historians.

It says nothing about Mohammed Bin Qasim's attack on the Indian King Dahir, ruler of modern Sindh province of Pakistan. This was around 750A.D.

Thank you Naima, I can't change the name as I have called them 'the Byzantines' throughout this series

Yes because that will be in a separate video about India.

IMO it could use a lot of improvement.

The music is too over-dramatic considering the slow progression of the slides. The text is overly terse in the first half of the video. "The Arabs" are described as a monolithic entity and no mention is made of Muhammad or the Caliphs.

The description should make reference to the modern day countries to provide context to an uninformed viewer; e.g. "In modern day Iraq, the Sassanids were routed at al-Qadisiyyah, spelling doom for the Persian Empire." Primary source quotes not completely necessary for a simplified source like this unless they are the best way to describe the events happening.

Ideally there would be a series of maps showing the expansion of the Caliphate, with text overlaid on top of the map. However, if that's not possible, at least show the 620 AD and 751 AD maps right next to each other for comparison. A viewer who knows little about the Arab conquests or this period of history is not going to remember how the map that they were shown 3 minutes ago differed from the one they are seeing now.

Finally, some color on the video wouldn't hurt. As far as I see there's not much of a reason to make it black and white.

Hi Historyen, you need to correct some points:

-0:58 Battle of Yarmouk, you put 634, no, it was 636
-You could add the Battle of Carthage, 699, that signed the conquest of North Africa

-I miss the battle of Poitiers, in the west, and the invasion of India, on the east. Both campaigns basically put a limit to the Arab expansion. You can add the failed invasions of the Khazar empire, which did so to the north. But I understand this is about conquest per se

Hi Franks, Thanks for the correction and suggestions.
I have mentioned battle of Poitiers in the following video:

Nice video, my points:
1. the romans, not byzantines
2. from Egypt directly to Spain is too fast, I would add at least Carthago conquest
3. I would include the division between Shi'a and Sunni

Thank you UlpiusTraianus, I am doing a video about the decline of Abbasid power and will mention the Shia - Sunni split in it.
