Notwithstanding a view that someone may feel a personal ox is being ....d, I just do not see any particular political or socio-economical issue that would lead to worldwide conflagration. Maybe a few countries might chose up sides and go at it in a limited war, but nothing of the magnitude of WWII.

It's funny how there is this persistent theory that WW3 will happen anytime soon. The situation that led to WWI required massive empires with centuries of history together, and complex military and political alliances and the aggressiveness of several nations that tipped over a delicate situation. That unique situation led ultimately to the 2nd. Such a scenario doesn't seem probable in today's political situation, I could see localized wars, but a lot has to happen before such a devastating conflict could pop up its ugly head again

Agree. Even Korean war cannot be called "world".
In last two decades wars include 10-20 good, civilized, democratic states that bomb one evil barbarous country.

I believe that WWIII, if it occurs, will start in the middle east or someplace in Asia Minor, however, I also believe there is no chance that a civilized nation like Israel will start a conflict that will erupt into world war. I do believe that it will come from a far less civilized nation.

Wow, no Pakistan. I'd have thought they'd be a shoein. Nuclear weapons, governement infiltrated by terrorists, openly sponser terrorism against India, fought 3 wars with India in rescent times.
If there is going to be another world war Pakistan v India is the obvious choice.
