Human identity is no doubt very complex. What we consider ourselves to be has undergone a lot of changes through the course of History. People change lands and languages, same is true of religion and social customs.

This thread is about the Khas people of Asia. Not many of us would be aware about them. I have been searching the Internet for more information about the Khasa/Khaisyas as I like to learn more about History.

From what I have understood so far - they were pre-vedic Indo-European speakers who settled on the Southern slopes of the Himalayas, right across South Asia. They may very well be the people who introduced Indo-European languages in South Asia.

They originated somewhere in North-West South Central Asia and moved to Tibet before settling in the present homeland.

The Indian Epic Mahabharata refers to them as an impure people and they fought along with the Kuru.

There is no modern Khas identity as such.
