Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878)

I am interested to know the military facts, aspects and warfare around this later 19th century war: Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878). I have read a book covering the history of this conflict, generals, uniforms and forces involved in the major battles: Siege of Plevna, Shipka Pass... but still I would want to know details about military aspects: How were the military formations at this time? Which was the importance and relevance of cavalry in battles (they used a short of fire weapons or fought in melee combats)? How powerful and relevant was the artillery? Compared to previous times, for example Napoleonic Wars, the number of soldiers involved in major battles was very high, why?
