and by other side... I read a lot about Gévaudan (and I was in that former region)... and I think there were two beast.. onen was a Wolf...(1st Beast killed by François Antoine).. the other one was a Dog (2nd Beast... killed by Jean Chastel).

It is strange that 1000 dragoons and the best hunters of France did not succeed to catch this animal.In anoher way it is imposible that only one beast kills 80 people..The last film about the subject has tried to deshonorate the family de Molette de Morangies.Everybody knows that this family was the richest aristocratic family of the Gévaudan-benefits,2 millions of pounds each year-provoked a lot of jalousy….but was not decided to pay 700 000 pounds at two gansters of the finance.Put in jails,de Molette was defended by Voltaire.At the Revolution,all his patrimony was classified "nationals properties" sold for little quantities of money to "business men" of Montpellier.The money recuperated was utilized for the army of requisition of 1793.The castle was transformed in hospital for the crazy and the alcoholics,very numerous,of my department.

I agree they pretended to dishonor the family only because they were rich.... I think movie (Le pact des loups) is not historical but very good movie. We have the two autopsies of the two slain beasts .... they were canidae... one was a wolf and the other, possibly a dog.

I know very much the de Molette de Morangies because they have passed an alliance with my cousins and neighbors of Saint Andre de Valborgne,in the Cevennes,the de la Fare.One of them,the marshall de la Fare is the heroe of Barcelona,Urgell and Roses.His litttle nephew,the archipriest of Burgondy,the cardenal de la Fare,was the private council financial man of Marie Antoinette, assassinated in 1793.He had paid the studies of my family in the french colleges of Coblence and Mayence.When the 28th light infantry regiment of the german colonel Johan Andreas von Praefke (RIP in La Albuhera,1811) opened a deposite in Mayence,a lot of students engaged,happy to return to Nimes.

I think it is right:

Spain was the largest single piece of territory Napoleon ever tried to bite off at one time, aand it gave him a bad case of indigestion, so bad taht even at the time, spain was know as "the Ulcer". In truth, it was more like the stomach cancer taht probably killed most of the Bonaparte clan, just as serving there "did something to people". Spain was special. (..) The war there showed many of the characteristics already apparent in Italy in 1799 (...), but the scale of the fighting in Spain, its protracted lenght, the visceral capacity of resistance and disorder to survive every attempt at suppression, and every tacti of counter - insurgency, made it the birthplace of the guerrilla - "little war" - and of all the heroic myths and bestial truths that envelope it, still.
