I'm quite partial to our own 'Beetle' actually - a username derived perhaps from the fab quartet??

Naw, it's derived from Kafka. When I had to choose a nic, it occurred to me that going online and doing the forum thing might be sort of like a metamorphosis for myself.

So far my fav thread in Historum was the one about people in societies and cultures who eat insects. When I visited that thread, someone mentioned he'd be happy to gobble me down. And he used the former smile icon with all the teeth. I had to let him know I wasn't the little-type beetle, but the human-size Kafka one. He'd need more teeth.

BTW, I do indeed appreciate the "partial". And I do have a partiality for that person of the land from whence came that wonderful movie about a band,
The Commitments. What a great movie. And the actors were locals. Unforgettable.
I'm also glad someone used the reference "fab" in regard to the Beatles. That became their nic. In the US they were called "the Fab Four."
--------------------
In regard to the Beatles, whom I think are an endlessly fascinating topic in regard to music (ahem, I guess if you haven't noticed), they emerged as a phenomenon from among a group of budding Brit bands of the time. However, like many bands, they actually had to grind out an existence in small, distant venues before they made the big time. And in truth, it seems, their early songs may not have been that original. They were pop hits. However, by the late 60s their music became very original.
A Day in the Life, as mentioned by earlier posters, is an extraordinary song.
As I stated earlier, I think Lennon was the one who made the Beatles unique. Perhaps if it were up to McCartney, they may have continued to play pop tunes.
The above stated, I'm interested to know from those who voted for Lennon exactly why you like him best. Was he really a more talented musician, or perhaps more creative in musical composition or perhaps subjects of songs or off-the-path lyrics? I guess I'm asking why you voted for him. I don't consider him more talented than someone perhaps like Clapton or many others. How original was he in regard to perhaps the Doors? I'm just wondering. I'm not trying to dismiss his impact or influence, as I've previously stated twice I think he's the person who made the Beatles unique.
