I am reading that Muslim slavery is worse than Western slavery. Is this true?

I read that the Muslims they castrate the African boy slaves and many of them die, and they steal Europeans people from the Eastern and Southern Europe.

Why is it not being talked about and why Africans not know?

The castration is prohibited in Islam, it is seen as mutilation ergo it is considered haram. So the Muslims didnt castrate anybody, they hired non-Muslims for this job, to castrate slaves, including Saqaliba - Slav pagans, enslaved by the slave raiders in Southeastern Europe. The slave raiders didnt steal, they enslaved by the way. Not all slaves were castrated, EDIT: one didn't need to castrate for example the galley slaves, their lifespan was very short anyway, typically lasting only a few years after the enslavement. The eunuchs, those who survived the operation, the mortality rate was high, were considered luxury slaves, they could serve in harems, ergo their demand was high, their purchase was not haram.

Slavery is bad no matter who practices it.

Are Africans ignorant about Muslim slavery? Could one of our African member offer an opinion?

None of it is much fun, I would imagine. But if you were to read an account of Cervantes' years in Algiers, you'll realise that there were a surprising amount of 'freedoms'.

Similarly, it was possible for those taken in coastal raids to convert and rise to high rank
