I've noticed a bunch of "Top 100s" lately on the forum and since I'm Chinese and have noticed that a lot of members on here are interested in Chinese history, I've decided to create my own "Top 100" list for Chinese generals and commanders. Please keep in mind that I'm not a professional history writer like @Congo100 and these are my personal picks. Anyone can debate these picks. However, like @Congo, I've done vigorous research these few days to back up my choices. Now I'm pasting these rules from @Congo100's rules because they'll be the same. See below:
Some lists have admirals. Admirals will be excluded from this list. It's difficult enough comparing commanders from extreme eras, let alone commanders from different theaters of combat.

I will display a portfolio of each commander with the same rank on each list. For example, this first list of commanders each were ranked #100 on one of the five lists. I will rank them: 96-100. Explain my logic, gather input, then when the dust settles, I grab the next five commanders to be ranked. These commanders will be from the #99 batch. I will repeat the process.

If a commander was already listed (for example, one list had a guy at 100 and another has him at 99, when I list the 99 ranked commanders, there will only be four and show which commander will not be examined (because we have already ranked him).

In the end, I expect more than 100 commanders will be ranked. I'm estimating that each list will have 10-15 unique commanders that neither of the other lists will have. So, I predict the worst case scenario will be around 160 commanders will be evaluated.

But we only list 100. Once we have 100, if we have more as I predict, the new ranked commanders will push out the previous bottom commanders.

We just focus on the keep number of 100.

Each portfolio will have the commander's name, date of existence, position of power and then a list his or her achievements in chronological order. Some will have a "NOTE". This is a more detailed or addendum to the previous event or sentence.
I will be doing the same as @Congo100 except these will be Chinese commanders and generals. People who participated in Congo's thread(or Congo himself) and anyone interested can join this debate.

100. Zuo Zongtang

Also known as General Tso (yes, like the chicken), Zuo Zongtang was a Qing dynasty statesman and military leader. He is best known for his role in suppressing the Taiping and Dungan rebellions. His strategic insight and effective governance helped stabilize regions plagued by unrest.

  • Consistent victories: Key victories in major rebellions.
  • Diversity of adversaries: Tackled both internal rebellions and external threats.

I'm still unsure about my top 10.

1. Han Xin
2. Huo Qubing (yes. Man was great)
3. Bai Qi
4. Cao Cao
5. Sun Ce
6. Li Jing
7. Li Shimin
8. Guo Ziyi
?

Maybe Dorgon and Wei Qing next? Putting Sun Ce ahead of Li Jing is perhaps going too far

I might do this for Islamic commanders. But there'd be too much back-lash over my placing of The Prophet

I also think that Cao Cao is very, very overrated on this forum.

The forum has a rule against posting in languages other than English, translation for others is that you were planning to make the Historum Top 100 list into a video and upload to Bilibili.

With that said, I just saw the video and it looks fantastic! The forum rules may not allow you to post links until you're 30 days old and have at least 30 posts. Maybe after that you could link this video in the list's official thread. I counted the votes along with Ixtab, so I have a list of all the figures who received votes, feel free to DM me.
